Simple Treasures

Three ripe and juicy apples just picked at Carters Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville, Virginia this fall. The orchard is adjacent to Jefferson's Monticello. Painting apples presents a variety of challenges to the artist. Creating orbs of heft and contouring the forms, adding color and light are among the most basic yet most difficult things to accomplish when painting apples. These apples are painted in oil on a wood block, suitable for a wall hanging, or sitting on a shelf in your kitchen hutch. Easy to hang, ready to ship.
